Lynette is a native Washingtonian who has loved music all her life. I started piano lessons from Uncle Billy using John Thompson’s book “Teaching Little Fingers to Play”. The First song I learned how to play was”It Is No Secret What God Can Do.”

I had my first drum lessons at the age of nine and was the 2nd Female Drummer in the city. It was unheard of for Female Drummers. At the age of fourteen after watching WKRP in Cincinnati, I knew I wanted to spin records and play music in a Christian Environment the rest of her life.

In 1983 I learned how to “operate the board” at Geneva College, in Beaver Falls, PA campus radio station during my Sophomore Year and enjoy playing it ever since.

As the Youth Department Executive Director at Randall Memorial Baptist Church in Washington, DC my pastor gave her the name “Straight” because she got things done “aka being bossy.” As an honor to him I spelled it STRATE along with my colored trademark I call the “Crayola Crayons Theme.”
